BEST OUTPUT with INSIGHTS AND REALIZATIONS

Introductory case analysis #1
October 5, 2020
Introductory case #1 is about a teacher who have a choice to either user a computerized assessment or give her own proposed end-of-unit assessment.

While doing this activity, I learned that, even though we have our own set of beliefs regarding the assessment, sometimes, the best way is to still follow what is the policy, especially if it involves our student. Like what I said while doing this output, a teachers can think of many ways to integrate her beliefs and values, we only need to widen the options and don't limit ourselves.

Introductory Case #2
October 19, 2020
The introductory case #2 is about a teacher who was torn between written assessment or a project-based assessment.
Back during my high-school and elementary, most of my teachers gave project-based assessment during the end of quarter. I learned while doing this activity, that sometimes project-based activity will not be the best choice to end a quarter especially if a teacher is already run out of her time. Just like what Keona might do, I learned that we can still integrate feedback, additional learning to our students even if we will give them a written assessment, that mostly our students doesn't enjoy.

Introductory Case #3
October 29, 2020
The last introductory case is about a teacher who use embedded formative assessment in her class. Madison was very efficient in giving feedback to her students, as well as providing essential questions to assist her students in their own errors.
I realized how important a feedback and good elicit of questions to our students. There are times that teacher provide answers to students to avoid consuming of time, not knowing that it only spoon-feed the students. Practicing embedded formative assessment to our students, doesn't only give chance to students to understand and correct their own errors, but its also a good way of improving our instructional strategies.

K-W-L (Know, Want to Know, Learned)

October 17, 2020

This K-W-L chart is about the relationship of Assessment and Evaluation, and why it is important in education.

Most of the ideas that I mentioned in this work are what I only understand prior the official start of our discussion in class. If I still have time, I knew to myself that the answers in this chart maybe different, maybe I'll go back to my earlier notes about the relationship of assessment and evaluation. However, I am still confident with the answers I provided. I was happy as well, because we able to learned most of the ideas that I mentioned in the want to know section of this chart.

Tuzzit Collaborative Output

November 2, 2020

This output was from the Introductory case #3 that was answered by a group. The tuzzit app was used to illustrate the collaborative ideas that was shared.

It is one of the outputs that I considered as a best output, because it was the first groupings that we had in class. Knowing that we are in online learning, and doing a groupings or collaborative output will be more challenging, yet we managed to share and express our thoughts and ideas with each other. We also share our current situations. It was not only a group work but it was also used as a way to connect with others.

Kappa Inter-rater Reliability Rubric Description

December 16, 2020

The Inter-rater reliability is one way to test if the rubrics for an output or an activity match to the student needs and will be easily understand by the students.

Back then, I didn't mind the rubrics that my teachers mentioning while giving tasks. Actually, most of the parameters are difficult to understand and follow, there are times that it was also confusing. However, during the time that I am the one who's creating a rubric, I learned how essential giving descriptions that are clear and easily to understand because it will also be a factor for achieving quality performance of our students. I consider this output as one of my best output, because it gives me the idea how to create quality rubrics, aside that it has a math formula that I really hate, it will also help a teacher to consider the different learning style of her/his students.

INSIGHTS

Assessing Non-Cognitive Dispositions and Skills

November 22, 2020

It was my prerecorded presentation in our class about the affective learning targets. Most of our students only knew that they are assessed based on cognitive targets and their actual performance. However, since this topic is about the affective learning targets, I realized while doing this output that it will also important if we orient our students that they are also being assessed affectively.

I think affective targets is difficult to assessed, because it elicits the character and behavior of our students, and it is rooted to different factors and reasons. While doing this work, the main problem that I had was how to use the 5 minutes for all the ideas that I want to share to my classmates. However, it was good enough that most of the ideas in the topic are familiar to us.

INSIGHTS

One minute podcast
October 4, 2020

I like this output since this was the first activity we had in the first day of new normal in education. In this podcast, we share our thoughts and perceptions on how do we see the classroom assessment and evaluation be affected with the new normal in education.

Since it was only lasted for 1 minute, it was really difficult to put your thoughts into words that will suffice the whole podcast without ruining what you really intend to share. I learned while doing this ouput, how useful in situation like this the KISS strategy. Its a word I learned from my professor, Prof. Nonita Marte. Keep It Short and Simple. Aside from the strategy of KISS, since I researched with what are the effects of new normal in assessment and evaluation, I knew that we maybe not seeing that DepEd is doing something for our students, but actually, before the start of new normal, our education system is already planning, and we might not like the new changes that we are facing, but we can take this as a challenge to improve and make better approaches and strategies that can be useful both, face-to-face and remote learning.
